Inner Family Relations...Redefined.

Bennett says to me, "I want to sleep at Nana's house tonight."

I reply, "You can't sleep at Nana's house because Nana is going to ******** to see Uncle J. & Auntie N. because the baby is ready to come out of Auntie N's uterus and that means that you and **** (The Niece!) are going to have a new baby cousin!"

Bennett immediately jumps up, and with great excitement, yells, "I'm going to be a Daddy!"

It would appear that he is over the fact that he will never be a Mommy...

HaHa Files: Disorder in the American Courts

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

Running a scan for photo files on my computer...two hours in, the count is currently at *31,442 and rising...

Considering the fact that all of these files are edited, dated & sorted; 99% of the photos are my work; and this only represents "saved" photos (30-50% of what I shoot does not make the cut and ends up in the recycle bin), from 2004 to present.

I have yet to scan anything from 1991 - 2003, when I used good old fashion film, or family photos taken before I ever picked up a camera...

That is one shit load of pictures!

NUMBER 3: "Whew! Guess I left the top off the White-out. You probably got here just in time!"

NUMBER 2: "Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?"

NUMBER ONE : Raise your head slowly and say "In Jesus' name, Amen."

Finally Friday!

Finally Friday!
I think those two words sum it up perfectly!
Soccer, Niece Borrowing, Homework & House Work...
not exactly an exciting weekend line-up,
but it does not include any 5 a.m. wake-up calls,
so I'll take it!

Figures

It's midnight. I've been up since five a.m.
I survived TEN hours of class in a 12 hour block today.
Caffeine was my saviour...
and is now the reason that I can't freaking sleep!
I digress.

One More Reason Not to Trust this SHITTY Company (Dorel/Cosco/Safety 1st/Eddie Bauer) when it comes to CARSEATS

WHY I HAVE ILL FEELINGS FOR THIS COMPANY:

This company is involved in many multi-million dollar lawsuits in the U.S. over their "shield boosters" that they continued to produce and sell, for years, even after it was proved that children were routinely ejected, either partially or fully, and permanently injured or killed, in nearly any roll over car accident! Something that should have been discovered while "testing" the product, PRIOR to selling millions of them all over North America!

Dorel was the last company to pull this dangerous and ineptly designed "safety seat" from store shelves and continues to claim no wrong doing in court, with families who are suing them, after their children were paralyzed or killed while using this product.*

Oh, the wonderful things one can find online while researching car seat safety!

*I'll pull up links and post them here when I have more time to surf around for them

HERE IN THE PRESENT:

Even though this is a recall on an infant/toddler car seat and is fixable (via retrofit kit), it is still a recall, which means that the product was not tested thoroughly enough BEFORE hitting the market and being sold to parents who trust the product to keep their child contained and as safe as possible in the event of a car accident. Recalls on car seats irritate me...as this is the only product a parent buys for safety reasons only! And the one place where thorough and proper testing should take place BEFORE the product ever hits the market!

Providing a retrofit kit after the fact is like handing out band-aids after shooting a nail gun into a crowd...

I shouldn't have to register my damn car seat with the manufacturer so that they can call me two years into its use and tell me I have been trusting a defective product! I can't rewind after a car accident and choose a different seat for my kid...the damage would already be done!

Car accidents and drownings are the two most common causes of children and babies being killed. Thus, parents send their kids to swimming lessons and put life jackets on them when boating and supervise them in the tub and around water...AND this is also why parents put their kids in car seats and attempt to be decent drivers...as one cannot control all causes of accidents (ie: weather or other drivers)...accidents happen! Apparently, in this country, the damn seats that cost up to $200 are not even qualified to work the way they were designed, even if parents do get it right by correctly installing and using them! Ever heard of a recall on children's life jackets? No. I didn't think so!

Mae Update!

Baby Mae was born by Emergency C-Section on July 31st (exactly 3 months before her due date!), to my Baby Cousin Whitney and her husband Kyle. (I say Baby Cousin because I remember her being a baby! I was 7.5 when she was born.)

As of this weekend, Mae is approx. 3 lbs (up from 2 lbs at birth), being weaned off of all IV's and BOTH Ventilators! She still has an oxygen tube and is being fed with a feeding tube...she is eating 9 cc's every three hours, primarily breast milk, but being supplemented with formula for extra calories to help her maintain her own body heat. She has been started on sucking therapy with a mini binky, dipped in breast milk, to get her ready for normal feedings. Mama and Dada can now hold her; they have started kangaroo care (holding her against their skin). Mae is being moved out of the incubator at this time as well and will soon be able to wear clothes!

Mae moves a ton, is extremely alert and guilty of frequently pulling out her feeding tube, twisting her oxygen tube and trying to pull the tape off of her face! By all accounts, she is one spunky little girl and is doing as well as could possibly be expected!

*Mae's only setback, to date, was a minor heart procedure, a few weeks ago, to close a valve that did not close on it's own, after birth, as it should have...she came through the operation beautifully!

Mamahood: Redefined

Animals sometimes can surprise doing extraordinary things, like this dog in China. This dog called Huihu, from Chongqing city, has adopted the piglet after her five pups were stillborn.

“She was very depressed for one week, then one night came home with a tiny black piglet following her,” says owner, Lao Yi.

Lao Yi says that ever since, Huihu has reared the piglet as if it were her own puppy, nursing her and taking her around.

The two have become celebrities in the neighbourhood, attracting many visitors, according to the Chongqing Business Papers.

Lao Yi says that over the course of one month, the piglet has already put on 2kg in weight, drinking only dog milk.

To Sum Up Current Existence:

So Freaking Tired!!!

School is officially back in session as of today...but it never really stopped for me. I don't advise pulling an all nighter on the very night before school starts. Back to our fantastically over scheduled schedule. Excited for upcoming pumpkin season. Out of my mind excited about the upcoming ski season...I'm coming off hiatus, baby! Life is good. Sleep is better. I'm going to bed now.
