We Re-scheduled Easter

It was actually warm enough to take off coats, so I attempted to get a nice shot of them in their Easter Outfits...the baby wanted no part of it!

Nothing posed about this pic, sheesh...

BP2 had more important places to go...like over to the flower bed to eat some bark mulch...

He still prefers to crawl and is severely offended when made to stand against his will!

So, I gave up on the baby and got this shot. How come they look like they are preparing to go to mass and repent of their sins? I fold.

le Sick. le Ick.

We re-scheduled Easter. At least the kiddie side of things. Yesterday, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt of my youth went off without a hitch. 'Twas a bunny bling, bubble fun time! Seven participants, under the age of six, this year. Four hundred pictures to sort through. I called my grandma to tell her that the hunt was alive and well...year three...in a new country, for the next generation.

Lukey has Miss K's bug; coming out both ends with gusto. Suits him right for pulling her hair every time he sees her! Less than an hour into our day and we are both two outfits and two baths down.

69

My dad is 69 today. I told my mom not to write that number on his cake unless she had a good sense of humour. She said it wasn't going to be written on. Tee hee.

Very happy to be able to celebrate his birthday with him. His little heart issue could have turned out much, much differently. I am very thankful to have him here.

We all met up at a local Chinese Restaurant and had a nice time. Bennett & BP1 had the privilege of blowing out Papa's candle. The smallest among us ate his share. He also put his share on the floor around him. The Niece! was wearing her mother's pearl earrings...because the studs she had her ears pierced with kept falling out. Pearl earrings on a two year old. Okay.

That is enough about the children. Next time, they stay home with a sitter, and the rest of us don't call it a night at 7:30.

Chowing Down.

Happy Birthday to my childhood friend Wendy!

And Happy Birthday to Joni's dumpling, Jaida (who happened to be born on her Auntie Wendy's Birthday two years ago!)

A year ago today...

There. I held the baby for a picture. Now where is my chocolate?

He actually liked his baby cousin a lot. But this picture cracks me up. He looks like I bribed him. And he has food on his face. No, I am not talking about the baby.

Home.

We are home. The north is cold. The nephew is cute. The brothers are well. The sister-in-law is well. The Bennett rocks! The duo of borrowed children arrive back tomorrow.

Who wants to see what kind of pictures I take when I have not slept in three days? Sure you do...

This is Bennett pretending to go fishing with a knitting needle he somehow pawned off his fellow backseat passenger.
No. I do not knit.

This is a footprint in the side of a mountain somewhere in Jasper. Can you see it? Or does that require hallucinogens and/or severe sleep deprivation?

This amused me. A Toy for Dummies...the damn thing came with instructions. Did I mention I had not slept in three days?
No. I was not the one driving

This is the best damn play area I have ever seen in an Evil Arches Establishment. Bennett can be seen peeking through the window of the yellow cube in the centre. Yes. That is how you spell centre in Canada.

No. This is not Starbucks. It's a freaking McD. Apparently National Parks get most of the fast food chain's budget...

This is Bennett staying hydrated...

This is Bennett learning how to knit? He'll make a great grandmother someday...

And that was the trip up. We also came back...but I had slept and thus did not find simplistic things so damn amusing. There are also pictures of the Wee Spudly, but nobody wants to see pictures of a cute baby.

And No, his parents did not name him that. Spudly is merely the hideous nickname that has been bestowed upon him by I. You like?

Happy Easter to All!

I have finally met my nephew. His cuteness and sweetness is enough to make me drool on myself. I am in love. That said, I am glad I do not live this far north. It is still winter up here. Brrr.

Mall Rats...Round 2

Well, the brainwashing worked! The two-year-old niece begged her parents into submission! So, this morning we hauled the same crowd of under-six-year-olds to the mall and poked holes in The Niece! She walked out with an earring in each ear...holding her bear, who donned an earring in one ear...go figure.

Video on The Niece!'s site.

It's all in your head!

BP2 (14 mos): grabs The Niece!'s ear

The Niece! (2 yrs, 4 mos): smacks the baby on the head and yells, "Don't touch my earrings!!!"

Heza: "Don't smack the baby! AND you don't have earrings!"

The Niece!: grabs her ear and says, "Oh?!" with a dumbfounded look on her face.

Lesson...just because you have watched someone else get their ears pierced, does not mean that you too had it done...

From My Parents, With Love

Dinner with my folks last Sunday...one of them went out of their way to make sure this mug was at my place setting...

Wardrobe Negotiations

BP1: I want the striped shirt with the muffin on it.

Heza: That shirt is in the bedroom where the baby is sleeping. How about this shirt?

BP1: Does it have short sleeves?

Heza: No, but you can roll up the sleeves. And it says 'skateboard'. Your mom likes skateboards!

BP1 (with much attitude): Then maybe I'll wear it at her house.

(She slyly maneuvers around my reverse psychology and continues to look for a shirt that meets her criteria of the day...every day I am a little more convinced that I have a lawyer on my hands!)

BP1-ism's of the Week...

BP1: Does Pooh Bear have a Brain?

Heza: No. He has stuffing.

BP1: Why does he have stuffing?

Heza: So that he isn't flat.

BP1: Oh.
____________________

Not my proudest parenting moment, but it displays both the stress level I was attempting to hide as well as BP1's stellar future lawyering skills:

BP1 (after I addressed her as "Love"): Why did you call me "Love"?

Heza: Because it was nicer than calling you "Shit Head".

BP1: Well, you could have called me "Monkey"!

Child Torture

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER...

Morning Comes Early 'round These Parts

I awoke this morning to the baby yelling. Bennett beat me to the punch and got him out of his crib before my eyes were actually open. Upon delivering him to me, and thus waking up The Niece! as well, Morning Cuddles commenced. I found myself at the bottom of a dog pile of deliriously happy-to-be-awake children. Morning Cuddles are something very sweet...if you can get past the smell of two needing-to-be-changed diapers and the frequent elbow-in-the-boob. The clock did not get glanced at until after the first three were bathed and dressed...its suffice to say that BP1 kindly slept in, as she did not grace us with her presence until a quarter after five...it would appear my wake up call came at about 4:30!!!

Welcome to March!
