WHY I HAVE ILL FEELINGS FOR THIS COMPANY:
This company is involved in many multi-million dollar lawsuits in the U.S. over their "shield boosters" that they continued to produce and sell, for years, even after it was proved that children were routinely ejected, either partially or fully, and permanently injured or killed, in nearly any roll over car accident! Something that should have been discovered while "testing" the product, PRIOR to selling millions of them all over North America!
Dorel was the last company to pull this dangerous and ineptly designed "safety seat" from store shelves and continues to claim no wrong doing in court, with families who are suing them, after their children were paralyzed or killed while using this product.*
Oh, the wonderful things one can find online while researching car seat safety!
*I'll pull up links and post them here when I have more time to surf around for them
HERE IN THE PRESENT:
Even though this is a recall on an infant/toddler car seat and is fixable (via retrofit kit), it is still a recall, which means that the product was not tested thoroughly enough BEFORE hitting the market and being sold to parents who trust the product to keep their child contained and as safe as possible in the event of a car accident. Recalls on car seats irritate me...as this is the only product a parent buys for safety reasons only! And the one place where thorough and proper testing should take place BEFORE the product ever hits the market!
Providing a retrofit kit after the fact is like handing out band-aids after shooting a nail gun into a crowd...
I shouldn't have to register my damn car seat with the manufacturer so that they can call me two years into its use and tell me I have been trusting a defective product! I can't rewind after a car accident and choose a different seat for my kid...the damage would already be done!
Car accidents and drownings are the two most common causes of children and babies being killed. Thus, parents send their kids to swimming lessons and put life jackets on them when boating and supervise them in the tub and around water...AND this is also why parents put their kids in car seats and attempt to be decent drivers...as one cannot control all causes of accidents (ie: weather or other drivers)...accidents happen! Apparently, in this country, the damn seats that cost up to $200 are not even qualified to work the way they were designed, even if parents do get it right by correctly installing and using them! Ever heard of a recall on children's life jackets? No. I didn't think so!

Well, that was a very bold statement, dont you think?
GOOD! So many people dont want to hear their carseat is cheap. I wouldnt want to hear it. Most people think all carseats are created equally. They are not. That is why we invest in carseats for our kids. You go sis! This is was research is for!
Oh great, must go check what cheap Walmart seats we bought for the kids. Even though sometimes I wish there was an 'ejection' seat when they whine *snort*. Seriously, it amazes me how little these companies are accountable for. Thanks for doing my homework. I knew there would come a time when YOU studying would benefit me. Keep up my A's.
