Oh, Baby! (July Edition)

Congratulations to Whitney & Kyle!

Originally expected to arrive on Halloween, Baby Mae was born today, by emergency C-Section, exactly 3 months ahead of schedule, weighing in at roughly 2 pounds.

I'm told that Mama is doing well and so is little Mae, who is nicely snuggled down in the NICU, where she'll be camping out for the next couple of months! (1st time parents, Utah)

Congratulations to Mandy & Jason on their beautiful new baby girl! K. came in at seven pounds, on July 21st, a baby sister for M. (BC)

Congratulations to Dave & Chelsea, who welcomed little Joshua into the world on July 13th...weighing in at 7 lbs, 4 oz! (1st time parents, Utah)

Congratulations to Chris & Helen, who welcomed little Amber into the world on June 16th! (1st time parents, Alberta)

Congratulations to Ben and Sicili, who welcomed little Ellana into the world on February 21st! (1st time parents, Florida)

Goose Bumps, Tears, Laughter, Re-defining Insanity?

In Shock. Good Shock. Smile to follow. Sleep much less likely.

In other news:

Psych class has been intriguing, but way too condensed to absorb all the material; may take course again, someday, out of pure intrigue. I could just read the text again, but I would really like to get the non-condensed version of the lectures (would have to get same instructor...) Enjoying school more and more each week...in contrast parts of my social life, some previous ways of thinking, as well as many old habits seem to be diminishing at an equivalent rate. It's a rejuvenating transformation. The last half year of self-imposed-attitude-renovation helped I think...

Pre-calculus correspondence course yet to go... If all goes well, and time allows, we might even make it out of town for a few days before the fall term commences...fingers crossed...

Highlights from the weekend:

Forced myself (& the boy) to take four hours off and go to the beach with a friend. Burned again. Yes. Again. But only in the spots I forgot to apply sunscreen... Forced myself to leave my camera and my watch at home...was less painful than I thought it would be. Bennett enjoyed playing in the river and digging in the sand. Mama (that's me) enjoyed sitting in the sun and playing soccer.

Non-Edible

While helping me put away groceries, my son picked up this box and asked, "Mom, are these cheese strings?"

Ummm....No.

Early today, during a whiny spell, I asked Bennett, "Do you think you could find some cheese to go with your whine?"

He said, "No! I want an orange!" And with that he ran and found himself an orange, which he promptly brought to me, stating, "See, I want an orange to go with my whine! Can you peel it for me?"

And I did.

Stole this from Ben...too Funny!

USS Lincoln

This is the transcript of the actual radio conversation of a U.S. Naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland.

Canadian: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid acollision.

Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north toavoid a collision.

Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees tothe south to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the captain of a U.S. Navy ship. I say again, divert your course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert your course.

Americans: This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that you change your course 15 degrees north, I say again, that's one five degrees north, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

Do you remember your first kiss?

So, it's your first kiss and several questions might come to mind:

Is it the right time? Is anyone watching? Does your partner even want to? Is your breath fresh?

And the big question... Should you use some tongue?

Then you lean in and just go for it!

Ah, Merritt!

Next year will be a plan-ahead-and-stay-longer year. Merritt was sweet. Here's the only evidence of attendance...as it should be:

***
Sunburn now looks like a case of Leprosy, post looking like human bubble wrap for a day. I learned my lesson. I wear sunscreen now.

***
I have been bumped. NO longer The Niece!'s favorite person. Bennett is the almighty cousin god that deserves her every devotion...

Auntie: "Where's Auntie?"

The Niece!: (scans the room for cousin god) "Bennett!" (points at him and scampers in his direction as fast as she can avoid eye contact with said Auntie)

Day Two Hurts Soooo Much More!

Umm, Ouch x2. That's my story. Advil killed the pain yesterday. Advil AND Tylenol just took the edge off today. I am whining now...

And Matt...despite my insensitivity of yesterday, I'm feeling for you today! We are two people of a different colour...and not the nice brown colour that either of us had hoped for...a nice fire engine red colour that does not look good with chocolate!

Ouch!

Monday morning. I am painfully reminded that I am one of those human beings with a melanin deficiency...also known as Caucasian...nothing like having skin that resembles that of a boiled lobster and the accompanying burning sensation to take the edge off of a sweet weekend!

My Toes at the Beach

I had no hand in the building of this castle. My sister, however, was a lot more willing to get dirty today...which the kiddies appreciated ;-)

Low Tech Thermometer: It's Hot Out!

Left some crayons in the car...ooops!

Gardening: Something I'll Leave to My Mother

I yelled at her, assuming that she was rolling in something foul, turned out she was just loving her bone in the same way that she greets bear poop...

Plant Growing out of a Log

My Mother's Day Plant from Bennett...when he presented me with the seedling he had planted in a little styrofoam cup at school, I b-lined it for my mom's house, knowing that it would just die if I took it home...I have that effect on plants...turned out to be a good idea, as it is still alive! & has taken over the pot it was placed in...orange flowers below:

I guess it is time to take it up a notch?

I took a lot of crappy pictures of nothing in particular today...so lolcats it is!

The opposite is true in my case...I am anything but pained when drinking (if you saw Canada day pics...no laughing you!) Damn if that isn't a great caption on this pic...Poor kitty...

Yep, more of that snappage... One of my Favorite Shots from the Weekend...

ARE WE PLAYING SOCCER...OR BOWLING, WHILST USING OUR CHILDREN AS BOWLING PINS?

SHAE & BEN

*No child was harmed in the making of this or any other pictures in this series...the little one is possibly a better soccer player than all the adults combined...seriously, I am not making this stuff up!
